Why leadwork matters
Most roof leaks don't come through the tiles or slates. They come in at the junctions, where the roof meets a chimney, a wall, a dormer or a valley. That's where lead does its job. When flashings split, slip or have been sealed with mastic instead of being properly dressed, water finds its way in.

Lead bays and dormers
Lincoln has thousands of Victorian and Edwardian homes with lead-covered bay windows and dormers. Done properly, with rolls, drips and the correct lap, they last for generations. We regularly re-lead bay roofs and dormers in the traditional way, keeping the character of the house.
Done safely and correctly
We choose the right code (thickness) of lead for each job, lay it in suitable lengths so it can expand and contract, and fix it properly into the brickwork, not just stick it on with sealant. We follow safe working practices for handling lead. It's one of many reasons lead work isn't a DIY job.
